Woodhall Spa Golf Course
Woodhall Spa Golf Club is situated in the town of Woodhall Spa in Lincs not far from the RAF base at Coningsby.
It has 2 18 hole courses, both very different from each other:
The Hotchkin course is an SSSI Heathland course and was voted the 61st best golf course in the world. An amazing course to play in this much-depleted habitat. It offers the golfer a real challenge, especially in some of the bunkers! It is home to some special heathland wildlife inc Adders.
The Bracken course is a parkland-style course with many small ponds, a big lake, and lots of trees. Geese are a common site on the lake and around the 3rd and 4th holes in particular. In the summer months the ponds are alive with Dragonflies and the odd Grey Heron or Egret can be seen flying over. Oystercatchers are present too.
I have only been here 2 months but already have recorded 14 species of dragonflies, 12 species of butterflies, 30 species of birds and I have added to the current moth list which now stands at 317 species.
This info will be updated as time goes on.
